ABOUT
ME
Hey there, my name is Savannah Bay Strandin. I am a midwest girl through and through! I was born and raised in Rockford, IL, although I spent most summers in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, which is where I get my middle name from!

I discovered my passion for theatre and dance at the young age of 3. Okay, story time: I spent most days as a child watching Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (starring Donny, of course), Cats, the Brandy Cinderella, and Annie. When the local community theatre in Rockford announced they were doing Annie that summer, my mom thought it would be so cute for tiny Sav to audition for one of the orphans since it was one of my favorite movies. Because I was 3 years old at the time of auditions, she didn't think I'd get cast, but it was worth a shot! As you probably guessed, I was put in the show, and it changed my life. After the show closed, I asked my parents "when is the next show?!?" and they both thought "oh no...what have we done".

Fast forward a few years (okay, many years), I decided to follow my dreams and pursue a career in theatre. I graduated from Western Illinois University with my BFA in Musical Theatre.

I took a short "detour" from performing several years ago so I could kick cancers butt. Getting a cancer diagnosis at such a young age really rocked my world. It was a really terrifying time in my life. BUT. I always say, if I were able to go back and change it, I wouldn't. I know that sounds absolutely bonkers, but hear me out. It made me who I am today. I am where I am in life because of that "detour" and I'm so proud of how far I've come and the person I have turned out to be. Plus, I looked pretty badass with a shaved head (see photo below). I'm so excited to tell you that I'll be celebrating 6 years in remission this November!!! WAHOO!

I was so lucky to spend the first part of summer 2024 at one of my favorite places, The Little Theatre on the Square, as Reubens Wife in Joseph and the amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Ladybug in James and the Giant Peach! I am currently finishing out the summer (and starting off fall) as the female swing in Jersey Boys at The Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre (Prather Productions) in Lancaster, PA! This is my second production of Jersey Boys and I'm so excited to be revisiting this material. If you're in the area, come see us August 16-September 28!
